I have long dreamed of owning an “it” bag. A swoon-worthy bag that will stand the test of time and be something I will love…forever. The reason I am still dreaming about it and not purchasing it are because most of the bags I swoon over range from a small to large sized mortgage payment. I find a way to talk myself out of it with the notion that I don’t “need” it and I could spend that money on a trip for my honey and I or I hear my mother talking and it sounds something like, “YOU DON’T NEED ANOTHER HANDBAG!” However, one look at my husband’s new fishing rod and I’ve decided that perhaps “need” is relative.
My friend Jennifer swears by her Louis Vuitton and no longer even carries any other bags. (Recently she even gave me her hardly worn Michael Kors bag because she said she wouldn’t wear it any more. Ahh! It was like Christmas in July!) When carrying her Louis Vuitton and eating out, she asks for a table of six; she has a family of five, the sixth seat is for her bag. Her reasoning behind the purchase: she deserved it, they look amazing, never go out of style and don’t fall apart like their lesser counterparts.
Besides the cost, my other major concern is my own emotional health. The day I found an ink mark on my new Kate Spade I thought I was going to cry…seriously, I almost did. I think I would probably go into a complete meltdown if the same had happened to my Louis Vuitton.
At last I’ve arrived at the time for a decision, to purchase the expensive handbag or not to purchase the expensive handbag – that is the question.
Luckily, I believe in a little thing called Fate. On Monday night I had this discussion with Jennifer. During this discussion she even joked that she’d lend me her Louis to allow for me to understand what makes it so amazing and write a story about it on my blog. On Tuesday, my favorite local consignment boutique Ms.cellaneous, alerted me via their facebook page to her new merchandise. She has four gorgeous Louis Vuitton LV monogrammed bags, lightly used and guaranteed authentic for sale for the low, low price of $450 and I believe one now has my name on it!
