Trying out a new trend can always be a bit daunting. Think about how you felt the first time you tried on a pair of skinny jeans after years of wearing wide leg or boot cut jeans. But this year’s spring trends are something to get excited about. They’re bright and bold in an everything -goes-kind-of-way and perfect for Florida Keys living.
When trying to figure out how to work a trend into your wardrobe, it’s always best to start small and to make sure you will wear it into future seasons. Take a look at the list of trends below and then look for a few accessories and maybe one wardrobe staple such as a shirt, dress or slacks in a classic silhouette that fits you well drawing on these new spring trends.
Emerald: Each year Pantone declares a color of the year and this year’s color is the elegant and lush emerald green. Looking through spring look books, you’ll find slacks, skirts, blouses and dresses in this radiant hue. Paired with denim you may run the risk of looking like your just left a St. Patrick’s day soiree but an emerald dress paired with nude heels or metallic’s will look incredibly glamorous. Additionally, try pairing it with other lively colors such as cobalt blue or yellow or wear it with a pattern such as black and white stripes or polka dots.
Florals: This season flowers are bright and playful and found in many head-to-toe looks. If like me the idea of wearing florals reminds you of your grandmothers couch, try it in small doses such as a floral patterned clutch or scarf. When going for a bolder look, balance a floral dress with classic accessories such as pearls or a black heels.
Bright colors: Neon is still in and brighter than ever. This season you will see neon in bright pinks, greens and oranges. Tone a bright piece down by pairing it with navy, denim or white and classic accessories. Focus on accent pieces like a bright structured jacket will make any outfit more polished and totally on trend.
Black and White: When thinking of Spring, most think of pastels and bright happy hues but this season, designers put the emphasis on head-to-toe Black and white looks. Resist the urge to add in a bright accessory to a black and white look and instead wear a bright lip color with an all black and white look. This spring trend is also incredibly wearable for both day and night and very affordable for every budget.
Islamorada Mercantile located at 81904 Overseas Highway offers a great selection of on trend and affordable clothing and accessories for men and women.
