Florida Keys Spa Specials October 16-20

Posted on: October 12th, 2012 by Leah No Comments

With so many things competing for our attention in the frenzied pace of life, it can be difficult to find the time to care for ourselves.  During the week of October 16-20, I urge you to relax, rejuvenate and de-stress.   Lucky for us, several local Florida Keys salons and spas will be offering discounted spa packages for the ultimate opportunity to recharge.

When was the last time you did something for you or gave the gift of complete relaxation?  Better yet, indulge in a couples massage with your significant other or get your girlfriends together for a few hours of primping and pampering.

Never had a facial?  How about acupuncture?  Spa Week is also a great opportunity to try a new spa treatment at a much lower cost.  That way, you’re not paying full price for something you may not love.

To take advantage of these amazing specials, call one of the following spas and make reservations for the week of October 16-20.

Fall Trend Alert: Oxblood Red is the Hue of the Season

Posted on: September 14th, 2012 by Leah No Comments

The newest color trend this season is a maroon color the fashion elite are calling Oxblood.  This dramatic dark brownish red color can be found in tones ranging from bold bordeaux, deep magenta, rich crimson and more wine soaked hues.

As with any trend, I never recommend going out and buying a closet full of Oxblood because by next season this look will likely be done.  I do, however, recommend picking up a few pieces that will effortlessly mix into your wardrobe and help you achieve this trend-setting look.

One way I love wearing a trend is through a bold lip color and this oxblood color is easy to wear.  I recommend Giorgio Armani Lipstick #201 from Saks Fifth Avenue.  This sultry color will look beautiful on your pout this fall!

Try oxblood in easy-to-wear layering pieces like this ASOS leather jacket in Oxblood.  This bold color looks great paired with primary hues.  I love it paired with bold fall tones such as hounds tooth and yellow and orange.

My current obsession is oxblood hued booties and I can’t wait to purchase these by Schutz found at Piperlime.  Living in Florida makes for a fairly non-existent Fall.  With booties, I will wear this with other fall tones in lightweight fabrics that can still work in my warm climate.  (To my hubby – I would like these in a size 9 for my birthday in 2 weeks…Please….)  These will obviously look fabulous in cooler climates with tights and heavier wool skirts and dresses!

Good thing I love red wine.  It’s now going to look very fashionable holding a glass while rocking a bordeaux lip and oxblood booties paired with my fave yellow dress!

Take a look at this fashionista rocking oxblood at NYFW!  I love how she’s worn this bold tone in a printed dress and gorgeous oxblood handbag and booties!

The Power of Pink

Posted on: July 9th, 2012 by Leah No Comments

I haven’t seen this much pink lipstick since the 80’s when the only way to wear it was with crimped hair and blue eye shadow.  Today’s pink lipstick ranges from soft matted pinks to bright fuschia and are being worn by everyone from Kim Kardashian to Rihanna.   This uber girly shade is the perfect color this season and instantly can brighten  up your summer look.

Although my go-to shade will always and forever be red, it’s been my experience that a strong lip color in any shade can add an air of confidence similar to how we ladies feel in stilettos.  Pink is the perfect hue this season for a lighter, less dramatic look and perfectly transcends from the office to happy hour.

When trying out a new lip color I prefer to start with the less expensive brands to see if I’ll wear it.  At a recent trip to CVS, I picked up this L’Oreal Paris Infallible 8 HR Le Gloss in pink topaz for under $10.  Although it claims to be an 8-hour gloss, I think the only way it could possibly stay on for 8 hours is if you didn’t eat or drink anything during that time.  That said, I still love a good gloss and this one goes on beautifully, stays on for quite awhile and the color is amazing.

My next stop is the Giorgio Armani counter at Saks for a hot pink long-wear lip stain!

It looks even more pink in person!
